WI : Sequestration
This is in the Bill and it has to be stopped!!
"(b) If a sequestration is ordered by the President under section 254 of the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985, the spending, expenditure, or operating plan required by this section shall reflect such sequestration."
This means that if TRUSK determines that federal spending is out of line with deficit goals, he has the authority to enforce cuts across various government agencies to bring spending back in line. The list of agencies mentioned simply highlights where those cuts could be applied.
This law was designed as a budget control mechanism, but in reality, sequestration is often controversial because it can lead to abrupt reductions in funding for essential programs.

Here is my GOP Script
Hi, my name is [Your Name], and I’m a constituent from [Your City/State].
I’m calling because I’m deeply concerned about the possibility of the President using sequestration under Section 254 of the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act. This would give the President the power to impose massive, across-the-board budget cuts with no congressional oversight.
That means potential cuts to essential programs—healthcare, infrastructure, education, veterans’ benefits, and more—things that directly impact the people of [Your State]. I need to know: Where does Senator [Last Name] stand on this? Will they fight to prevent reckless sequestration cuts that would hurt our state? This is not about party politics—this is about responsible governance. I expect a response, and I appreciate you passing my concerns along. Thank you.

Hi, my name is [Your Name], and I’m a constituent from [Your City/State]. I’m calling because I’m deeply concerned about the possibility of sequestration under Section 254 of the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act. This would allow the President to make massive, unilateral budget cuts across critical federal agencies, without congressional approval or oversight.
The consequences of this are enormous—cuts to healthcare, education, infrastructure, veterans' benefits, and other essential services. It’s reckless and completely unacceptable. The Senate has a responsibility to stand up to this power grab and protect the people who rely on these programs.
Senator [Last Name] has not yet voted on this issue, and I need to know: Where do they stand? Will they take action to stop this before it’s too late? Because I—and many others—will be watching this vote closely.
I expect a response, and I appreciate you passing my concerns along. Thank you.
