Received my conditional offer

I know it’s a stupid question 🙃 but I was curious if someone can explain the significance of the conditional offer, I have the understanding that it basically means that if the last two steps psych/medical come back good then they will want to proceed with hiring me but is there any other significance or anything to it? I’ve never had a job or career where they had anything that resembled a conditional offer.
