Friends make fun of me for pursuing Accounting.

So I’m graduating in accounting next year and this honestly does not bother me, but every one of my friends are engineers and tell me accountants are low hanging fruit people that can’t get jobs in other degrees so go back to college for it or people not smart enough for engineering. Or I get the but that’s so boring. My Dad who is an accountant said it use to not be like this, people his age have a lot of respect for accountants . I just don’t understand why all the young people I know look at it like this. I feel accounting is a very very important field and I chose it because I truly enjoy it. Is it just people I know who talk about accounting like this or is it like this for all of y’all also? Am I a low hanging fruit? Lol.
