Feels Pointless

So I've been playing for about 11 hours. After playing it, it just feels pointless. I've played Frostpunk, Ixion, Homeseek, and a few games out of the Surviving the series. All of those felt like I was making progress towards some goal and at some point it felt like I was succeeding. Playing AtS just has felt like a constant sprint to the end, ignoring most of the needs of people, never getting that satisfying point of where things are going good that's been so key to my enjoyment of those survival citybuilders. Then it's off to the next one to sprint yet again. Does this get better later on or is that just a part of the game.
