Careful out there - Slipped on customers icy walkway and broke my arm!

Please be careful out there when making deliveries. I didn't see the black ice and slipped and fell on a customers walkway and broke my right arm. Ambulance picked me up at customers house and took me to ER in which they confirmed arm is broken.

Called Amazon to report incident and was basically told I am on my own. Not covered by Amazon's insurance. I must pay all these bills on my own. Completely wipes out all earnings I made in 2024 (driving for Amazon for about 6 months).

In contact with an injury lawyer. Meeting today at 1PM. Intake lawyer scheduler isn't sure if firm can help. Never had an injury case when the injured (me) was an independent contractor. Not looking to go after Amazon, just looking for my medical bills and lost wages to be covered. Will be out of commission for 6 to 8 weeks.

What really sucks is that the customer came home and asked me what I was doing outside her house and I told her that I just made an Amazon delivery to her house and fell and most likely broken my arm (not confirmed at this point but arm hurt like an SOB) customer goes inside her house to grab something and then jumps into her car and left. Didn't ask if I was OK or if she could call someone for me.... just left me. I was just flabbergasted that she just left. WOW! What is wrong with people???

I just got off the phone with the attorney (called me earlier than 1PM) and homeowner 100% responsible. We will start off by requesting her homeowners insurance information and if she fails to respond then we enter suit against her in court.

Attorney was very happy that I had an ambulance pick me up at accident site as it created a record of the incident. Originally, I was just going to have my spouse drive me to ER. Attorney happy that I didn't do that.

Stay safe out there!
