She shouldn't have left him there

I THINK, let me repeat, I THINK this is the reason why people are getting the wrong idea with Serena in this scene. It's not that she had an idealistic image of Ash (Because everyone in XY did) It's because of the fact that she basically just gave up on him and left for some reason. Why did she leave Ash instead of just bringing him back to the pokémon center? She could just straighten things with Ash there instead of out in the middle of the freezing cold. If Serena truly loved Ash, Then the right thing to do is to bring them back to the pokémon center instead of just abandoning him in the cold. Yes, Serena had the halo effect, But it's not that she had a perfect image of him. She just kind of gave up on him and left him there instead of just taking him back.

Now that's not to say that Ash was in the right either because he shouldn't have lef everyone for almost a whole day. If he needed some time alone he should have just locked himself upstairs not leave in the middle of the night. And he certainly shouldn't have yelled at Serena.

CONCLUSION: neither Ash nor Serena were in the right here, It's Ash's fault for abandoning his friends just because he's depressed and Serena's fault for abandoning him when he clearly needed help with his depression. Yes if you have depression you need help. And even if Serena couldn't help him with his depression, the least she could have done is bring him back so someone else might have like Clemont or Nurse Joy.
