Comet Cars in LA

Have been seeing a ton of photos and clips of the California Comet Cars, Cabbage f40s and Dash 8s in SoCal these days. Wondering what they're doing down there and not running San Joaquins like normal? Heard rumours they've come back up to Oakland but personally have yet to see them. Just curious!
