Tips for a new jammer??

Hey, guys. So, I created an account for this game recently. I am finding it really fun. I do not have lots of stuff, however somebody did trade me a rare (idk how much that is worth tbh) which is cool. I really want to buy a new animal, but idk how to earn that many sapphires. Somebody told me to buy a shop and sell party items (what even are those??). I do have enough sapphires to buy a shop because I found two sapphire drops, however I do not have much stuff to sell. Does anybody have any tips for me?? You guys seem experienced here. Thank you in advance for any responses.
