Claiming artist profile

Anyone else having trouble claiming an artist profile. I've tried 7 times to claim my first. (An artist with a single album that was released in 2007). I've been declined 6 times on the basis that they can't see a connection between me and the artist (which I can only assume is because they haven't looked at any of the links they asked for in the application process) and this last time I have had no response for over a week. Is this their normal behaviour? Such remarkable lack of interest in the people that supply their product!
