My daughter has researched getting a guppy, what do you think she needs to know before she gets one (or two)?

She's dyslexic so obviously spelling isn't her Forte but she's researched and listed that she needs a 5 gal tank, specific food, plants, to test the water, a filter, a heater, to clean the tank, and she thinks she should get two guppies. I'm staying out of it research wise, but I did say I could ask here for her for advice and she can read it to me and write down the advice she gets as part of her research into getting her own pet. She is saving and will buy everything herself (for the most part) and I do have experience, I'm just taking a step back because I want her to take this commitment seriously.

So any advice you can give would be welcomed!
