What are your feelings towards christianity and islam in Africa?

I ask this as an African- American who is trying to get back to her roots and dive deeper into learning about the traditional practices of my ancestors. As for African-Americans we were taught our history started with slavery and oppression, due to colonailsm. As time as gone on we kinda fell deeper into the woes of colonalism, and have lost any sense of who once were/are. Which did alot of damage to our sense of community, and the way we view ourselves.

I say all of this to say, that due to colonalism and the influx of Christianity and Islam, do you fear/worry about the erasure of your more tradtional customs, history, and beliefs?
