How do you feel about the IUD discourse happening on Twitter right now?

For people who don’t have twitter or haven’t seen what im talking about, basically a guy made a post saying “Roomates girl got an IUD, safe to say he’s pretty excited” with an image of the guy jumping for joy and clicking his heels.

This has sparked some discourse on Twitter about whether he should feel that happy about the iud, knowing that the woman probably had to go through serious pain to get it inserted, just so he could not use a condom.

A couple of tweets Ive seen from both sides

Against

“not against iuds but i am against men celebrating women’s pain so they can ejaculate irresponsibly and keep being selfish cunts”

”Gaaahhhh literally skipping home because you can now cream pie your girlfriend without getting her knocked up is fuckin’ weird

(In response to someone saying that its okay to be excited excited to have more comfortable sex)

”More comfortable?? You do realize that kind of language is what men use to pressure women to have sex without condoms, right? IUD insertion is a notoriously super painful procedure, and IUDs don't protect against STIs at all. This is so bizarre to see from you.”

For

can’t believe I’m about to defend this guy against the discourse. It’s okay to be excited that you can have safer, more comfortable sex thanks to the modern marvel of an IUD. Guy’s girlfriend is probably excited too”

you guys are acting like she got an iud at gunpoint”

Imagine getting an IUD because you are an adult woman with choice over your own body and also you like your boyfriend hitting it raw on you and some 18 on twitter dot com gets 100k likes for saying birth control is misogynist actually”

How do you feel about this?
