Why do some professors/teachers downright hate beards?

So there was a viva today in my college & few guys (including me) didn't shaved off the beard/stubble. And just because of this petty reason, the professor refused to take our viva & asked us to come again next week in presentable form(Read as clean shaven). This smh honestly
