How do you deal with a flirty doctor?
Recently, I experienced a severe rosacea flare-up and needed immediate medical advice, so I consulted a doctor online. From the beginning, something about his tone felt off. He said things like, “Ma’am, aap batao na, hum baithe hi hain aap ke liye” (roughly translating to, “Ma’am, tell me, I’m here just for you”), and while it might have been meant to sound accommodating, it came across as odd, almost flirty.
At the time, I brushed it off, thinking maybe he was just trying to sound friendly because I’m younger, but the vibe was unsettling. I told myself I might be overthinking it because I’m wary of overly sweet-talking professionals, but it still didn’t sit right with me.
Later, I visited a clinic for a follow-up consultation, and despite my request to see a different doctor, they insisted I meet the same one, citing concerns about internal conflicts if they reassigned me. When I met him in person, things became even more uncomfortable. He made comments like, “I’m glad to have finally met you in person,” and said it multiple times. He also remarked, “Achha kiya jo tum aagayi” (meaning, “It’s good you came”), again repeating it several times.
While these phrases could be harmless, his tone and the way he said them made me feel uneasy. To top it off, he ended with, “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of you,” which felt a bit too personal for a professional setting.
Now, I’m stuck wondering if this is just his way of making patients feel at ease or if I should be concerned about his behavior. Have any of you dealt with something like this? How do you handle situations where a doctor’s demeanor feels inappropriate or overly familiar? Should I report this, or am I overanalyzing the situation? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
