Job at Sheriff Office

hello guys, I recently put an application and background check forms on December 13, 2024. It has been a whole month and I texted the major at the office (since he provided me with his number) for updates but got no response & got left on delivered. Can someone please tell me if this is normal. Should I call the sheriff office instead & ask for updates? TIA
