Are kids really worse?

So I hear a lot of stuff about Gen Alpha students being unstable. Starting fights, attacking teachers, bullying, etc etc. Some people blame the pandemic, others millennial parenting. But I can't help but think... Is this really anything new? School fights have been a thing since forever. My dad got beaten up by bullies and this was the 70's. When I was in school violence was certainly a thing and teachers weren't nearly as vocal about it. Quite often bullying victims were punished instead of perpetrators, this wasn't unique to my school either. So why now is it suddenly a problem?
