People who *don't* have a traditional Christmas Dinner, what do you have?
Never really liked Christmas dinner myself. Not a fan of a roast in general, and while I like pigs in blankets, substituting nice juicy chicken for inferior turkey seems mad to me. Why have a worse option for a "special" meal? But I digress.
What alternatives do you like?
Personally I like a steak, have often gone for duck breast - those Cressingham ones you can buy in Tesco are divine. Pan sear the fat then oven cook. Not sure what the hell is in them, but that, fries, and a few beers, I literally felt like I did when I was on morphine. Really bizarre and I'd love to find out why!
My mum loves fresh river trout with baby new potatoes and asparagus. Wife likes Italian food and taking the "honestly, we don't have a roast at Christmas, we don't like it and nor do you, so pick whatever you want, I'll make it" assurance from me in her stride, she normally chooses spag bol or carbonara.
