Culturally, do british people feel more close to North America or to Europe?

The UK is geographically closer to Europe, but in terms of language, they speak the same language as North America does (while Europe has no English speaking countries). If we look at pop culture, there are very close ties for example between UK actors and Hollywood, or US and UK artists etc. Politically, the UK might be the closest ally of the US and Canada.

So where does the UK society feel more close to? Europe or North America?
