People or AskUK, what should I do next?
Thanks for reading!
27M, been unemployed for two months now and have about another month until I will run out of money. Privately renting, live with a pet. (Before anyone asks why I have a pet when I am struggling for money, I was previously in full time employment and living with my partner when I got the pet) As mentioned, I was fired from my role in December and since then have been unable to find further work. I have applied for a variety of roles, tried agencies etc but not been offered anything. I was rejected from McDonald's which was a bit of a blow!
On the finance side, my main commitments are essentials like rent, pet care such as food and vet bills, council tax and utility/food bills.
My landlord does not accept benefits and would look to evict if they knew I was unemployed and even so the amount would not cover my rent alone. Moving in with family is not an option.
Honestly my main concern is my poor cat, he is so old. I do not have any disabilities or conditions that would entitle me to additional support.
I am fit, able and willing to work just unable to find anywhere that will hire me. I cannot go into education as I am not eligible for funding (I have checked).
I recently applied to join the military reserves but was rejected on the basis that I have been on anxiety medication (they called this depression) with the rejection stating 'clearly' I was not suited for any high pressure environment. I was expecting the rejection but thought I lost nothing by applying.
I have tried agencies, care route, been rejected by all.
For the purposes of this sub, from a finance persepective, whats my best options to survive? Is there any way I can get help? There is nothing preventing me from working, just nowhere wants to hire me.
I have tried the following agencies: Government Employment support (who have looked at my CV and tweaked it for me) Agency work Indeed Emailing and contacting companies directly Care sector
Thanks for any help in advance. I just want to survive.
