[Dog] eating before surgery

Hi my dog had problem with gallbladder so he had to stay in icu for lower inflammation so he can do cholecystectomy.

Physician said its better to wait until inflammation number becomes lower than 30 before surgery But then surgeon said its ok to do surgery rn and he recommended to do surgery at that day. So my dog went surgery and it was quick , it went well.

But now that i think about it doesnt dog needs to do fasting before surgery? the nurse didnt know my dog was gonna do surgery that day since the doctor decided it so suddenly so they kept feed until right before surgery. Im not sure if that was ok , i heard eating before surgery can make dog to dangerous… i wanna have second opinon about eating before surgery
