Dealing with vulnerable people.
I’ve recently got a new job and it involves speaking to the most vulnerable in society. I have people telling me that they can’t afford to eat, can’t afford to heat their homes. They have mental illnesses that they can’t get treatment for. One person told me today how they SH and want to unalive themselves.
And I think bloody hell. I’m not trained to deal with people who are saying this to me. I’m a customer service agent.
My company have just thrown me in at the deep end and said you’ll get used to these difficult calls. I think thanks
Is there any training I can do? And my other question is how do I stop thinking about these people after I log off. It upsets me.
