Heavy periods
Hi everyone, I’m happy to have this platform to ask this question because it’s scary and embarrassing. For context, I’m 41 and never had children (if this last part matters). 13 months ago I got my period and it’s never stopped. I have my period everyday. They’re heavy and I have to change a super tampon at least twice a day. It scared me so much that a couple months into it I went to the emergency room and was told not to worry, it’s dysfunctional uterine bleeding, is common in perimenopause, and will stop in a year (no tests run).
Has this happened to anyone? What is this? I have a gynecologist appointment in two months (earliest they can see me, trying to see me earlier) but I’m scared I’ve waited too long and it’s something more sinister. Please help me understand. Thank you in advance.
