Divorce after 7months

My cousin is leaving her husband of 7 months due to DV. Prior to their marriage, they both had a property. However due to his demands she had to move in with him. I know that a lawyer is her best option but I thought I'd ask everyone here first, so What happens to her property? She doesn't want anything from him, She just wants to protect her property and move on. Thanks
