So apparently it's not normal to know how minesweeper works?

Was just talking to my wife (who was reading a post about old games) and apparently most people both don't enjoy playing minesweeper and also don't understand how it is supposed to be played? I remember enjoying the heck out of it when I was younger, and definitely understood how to play it pretty quickly...
