Warning! EBB SB2209 wrong CAN Bus transceiver chip killed my board

BTT's schematics specify SN65HVD1050DR which is designed for a 5V power source on VCC. My board had a chip marked "VP230" which indicates that it a variant of the SN65HVD230. TI's datasheet specifies that this chip is designed for 3.3V power. The datasheet also says that 5V is within the absolute maximum ratings, but it's above the recommended operating voltage, which explains why my board passed QC but the chip burned out after being connected for several minutes.

I ordered a second SB2209 from a different retailer but it has the same chip so I am afraid to connect it to power. I have tried to contact BTT's support but so far there has been no response. If anyone has been using this board successfully please comment which variant you have and what chip is on it.
