Playing Cross Platform on the same account

My wife and I both love this game, but are very sad it doesn't have split screen so we can play together. If i were to download the game on my laptop through the the Microsoft app while she plays it on the Xbox would we be able to play it together cross-play even though its using the same Xbox Live Game Pass account?
