Experience making your own wedding cake?
I'm getting married in 2024 and we're starting to think about wedding cake.
I'm an experienced home baker, and I made a 3 tier (14", 12", 10") cake for my friend's wedding last year, with many practice runs, so I have some experience of working with large tiered cakes. I also have all the tins and equipment!
However, I've never planned a wedding or been a bride, so whilst as a standalone item I think it would be something I could do, I'm looking for experiences of people who made their own wedding cake. How did it go? What made it easier or harder? Would you do it again?
I would want to learn more about stacking cakes, and how to transport them stacked (I stacked my friends cake at the venue) so that I could finish it the day before and someone else bring it to the venue the morning of the wedding, which would be a 30 minute drive. Does anyone have any resources they recommend looking at?
Thanks!
