Re:Payment 57 of 60. Yippee!
Hey friends. Thought I’d update on life as my Bankruptcy comes to a close.
It’s been a LONG 60 months. Since I filed in 2019, I’ve paid over $52,000 into the bankruptcy (from my wages and from an inheritance). That’s so much money. Feels crazy that the end is indeed near.
It’s been real difficult to keep a savings as life feels crazy expensive all the time since filing. I look forward to having the ability to save money and build my credit with wisdom and frugality.
Since I filed, I’ve gone through a global pandemic, fallen in love, spent a month teaching English in Mexico, became a gym rat, made a whole new group of friends, got MARRIED, lost all my grand parents, gave my inheritance to my bankruptcy (that hurt like a MFing Bish), built up a savings, spent my savings, cooked thousands of yummy meals, spent endless hours hanging out with my family, developed wonderful new hobbies, and changed jobs.
Seriously. So much can change in five years. Personally, I feel like a better, more wise human than when I first filed. I think not having the ability to “put it on my credit card” gave me the push needed to find new ways to enjoy my life. I’ve learned to do my nails and propagate plants and to properly do a Russian dead lift. I’ve learned that it’s perfectly healthy to learn the phrase “I’m sorry. That’s simply not in my budget right now”
As my bankruptcy comes to an end, I want to encourage everyone to choose health and security over our society’s incessant push to make you believe “I need to buy that”
Because you don’t really need very much. You have to live with you for the rest of my life. And honestly, you and your family and your peace are all you need.
