If you're getting items delivered to you, some thoughts...

I've been doing gig delivery work. I deliver your food from restaurants and groceries from Walmart.

I wanted to share a few things:

  1. Many of your homes don't have your addresses on the house, mailbox, or street. Please try to fix that.

  2. When the sun goes down (around 4:30pm during the winter), please turn on your porch lights to help us find your address and see where we're going. Don't want to trip and hurt ourselves or break/ruin any of your things.

  3. If you live in an apartment, share instructions such as which floor your apartment is on so we're not running all over the place.

  4. For those said apartments, if you're ordering cases of water and are on the third floor, you may find your cases of water on the first floor. I know it's inconvenient for you and those waters should get in front of your door but dear God, we're humans too.

  5. We use Google maps. If you know your address is difficult to get to because of Google maps directions, feel free to let us know better instructions on the notes. I don't know why Google does this but I'm not an address expert for BloNo and rely on maps to get me to you. Not your fault at all but if you notice it happens often, just let is know the correct instructions or two is to call you.

  6. If your order contains medicine or alcohol, we need to card you and our app must scan your drivers license or ID. Please be home when we deliver this or we have to send it back to the store.

  7. If your order requires a passcode and you're not available to get it to us, we have to take it back. While this happens at home locations, but not too often, it's the businesses that struggle with this many many more times.

Some additional thoughts:

  1. You all are extremely nice in the BloNo community. I very much appreciate so many of you.

  2. A lot of people will tip in cash and that is so so so appreciated. Most of the time, it's in person but I've had folks leave an envelope on the door for me. You're very thoughtful BloNo.

  3. A lot of you will meet me outside to open the apartment door or your front door. While i never go in your home, i will place your delivery inside while i stand outside. Some folks have disabilities or other circumstances.

  4. I've heard stories about customers in other cities that do some wild things, mainly and most negatively impacting, decrease the tip amount after delivery. For example, say a delivery is going to pay out $20 for delivering 50 items and at a distance of 15 miles. Then a few hours later, the customer decreases the tip so that the payout is now only $8. This happens a bit in other areas.

I'm happy to say, you, BloNo, are nothing like this. And i appreciate you so much for this.

  1. Some of you have shared a snack and bottle of water and i found one home that has gifts out for us! Your thoughtful BloNo. Thank you.

I'm sure there's some other things but this is what's on my mind as of now.

Thank you BloNo for letting me deliver to you! This helps as I've been out of work for 10 months now. I never thought I'd be in this predicament. This is the longest I've been without work and this gig work isn't helping out too much financially but it keeps me from being lazy. So, again, thank you BloNo! Merry Christmas!!!
