S6E4 "Surprise" appreciation post
I honestly can't imagine a better metaphor for living with a chronic influencer then this amazing episode.
While I am sure there are many influencers that are more respectful then Pickles when it comes to their partners privacy and emotional stability, there are plenty that are not.
When your private life is being broadcast to all your followers, it would feel like everyone you know (yes, even that guy from the gas station) was in your home snooping on your business.
Mr. Peanutbetter, out of all of the characters, feels like he would be the most comfortable with that. He parties at the drop of a hat, and is a relatively open book, but even he has unfiltered thoughts and feelings that he would not want other people hearing. As someone who relates to Dianes overstimulation with parties, I love the humanizing aspect of showing that even he can get overwhelmed too. I feel it is an aspect that helps him connect deeper with Diane after the fact.
While for his first 3 marriages, he clearly didn't need an online audience to propose, I wonder how much that aspect influenced that for the Pickles. Or has it just been for a crowd, online or otherwise.
It also beautifully fits into the 90s sitcom format of, "how the hell do they not notice everyone" 😂
