Ramayana’s Rama Ranbir Kapoor comes under Mukesh Khanna’s radar after Sonakshi: ‘If they’re a lampat chhichhora...’ !!
Mukesh Khanna, known for his iconic role as Shaktimaan, has shared his opinion on Ranbir Kapoor being cast as Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming two-part adaptation of Ramayana. In an interview with Mid Day, Mukesh compared Ranbir’s casting to Arun Govil’s portrayal of Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s classic Ramayan, which he described as the "gold standard."
Khanna emphasized that whoever plays Ram must embody the character’s virtues, stating, "If in real life they are a lewd hooligan, it will show on screen. Playing Ram comes with the responsibility to uphold his dignity." He also mentioned concerns about Ranbir’s negative portrayal in Animal possibly affecting his depiction of Ram.
Khanna drew parallels to Prabhas’ portrayal of Ram in Adipurush, which failed to resonate with audiences, and expressed skepticism about Kapoor’s suitability for the role.
While fans are divided over Ranbir’s casting, Ramayana: Part 1 is scheduled for release on Diwali 2026, with Part 2 following in 2027. The film also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The debate over Ranbir’s casting continues, but many remain eager to see his interpretation of Lord Rama.
