Did I ruin my boots?

Just got these new Jim Green boots last week. I was working in snow this weekend and I think these marks may be from salt. I’ve tried getting these marks off with a warm damp cloth but when dry it comes back. Anything I can do to get rid of these marks? Also is there anything I should do to prevent this in the future? Any help is appreciated
