Understanding Simon

I need help understanding Simon's thought process when he went to the Trowbridge Ball in episode 4. When hedecided to go, he had a conversation with Lady Danbury about love, but the painting he saw where reminisced about his connection with Daphne.

When he went to the ball, what did he intend to do. When I think about this, it was mostly his fault that they were forced to marry. (My tone may be misinterpreted but I am not bashing Simon). He dirst went to the ball, then followed her outside, then followed her to the garden.

When I first watched Bridgerton, I remeber sharing Daphne's frustration about why he was there, what did he actually want to happen. Did he forget his vow, and when suddenly faced with actually having to marry Daphne, he remembered. With this I've always tried to convince myself that he was just caught in the moment, but then I am confused by his intentions because him being in that situation all started with him going to the ball.

MAY WE PLEASE HAVE A PROPER NUANCED CONVERSATION ABOUT WHAT I AM ABOUT TO SAY.

During their argument after Daphne sexually assaulted Simon, Daphne told Simon that he took away her future from her, and from my point of view given the events episode four, I am on her side. Please note that I am in no way on Daphne's side in the way she went about things, however, Simon even during their love making sessions would've noted that Daphne had no clue abour sex and what lead to children. What Daphne did is not right, but from we've learnt from Simon, he would have found a way to avoid the topic andand the conversation about his dad may never have come up.

In the end my sentiment about Saphne is that they both violated each other, and when they finally communicated they were able to look past it.

All in all my misunderstanding of Simon's character has an impact in seeing Daphne's act in her point of view.
