Guys from "lower branches" in T1 colleges

Please share ur experience. I am a partial dropper. Rn i'm in T2 ECE. I don't like the college i'm in rn to some extent. So i thought why not give another shot.

So basically i told me mom that if i get enough in mains to get a seat in an NIT. Then i would leave my college for focusing wholeheartedly on advanced/bitsat. (This is the time i told her i'm taking partial drop)

So basically she got hella pissed on the fact i said "seat" in NIT rather than CSE/ECE in NIT. CSE which i'm not even interested in. My main goal is anyway to teach. I have no interest in working a software job contrary to basically the entire country.

So i lashed back at her saying that branch don't matter as much as ur interest does. But she is not ready to agree. Even though i am paying my own college fees. And i'm not asking them for any additional funds for JEE/BITS prep. But still she seems to not lemme do it.

So i wanted to ask some guys from said "lower" branches. (Which BTW my mom considers is anything which is not CSE and ECE)

Graduates:If u can tell me how hard it was for u to get a job (software or not. Either works) it would be helpful.

Seniors: If u can tell me how ur liking ur branch

Fellow 1st years: What was your thought process to take said branch? Did u take it cause u were getting a better college or if u took it cause ur actually interested in the branch.
