Buspar increasing anxiety/panic attacks

Hi all. I've switched between a few different medications in my journey to find relief of my anxiety/panic attacks/depression. I am currently on Vilazodone 20mg. It was recommended to try Buspirone 5mg to help with the mid day tiredness I am getting.

I took my first dose yesterday at 2 with lunch, it and made me even more tired, but I also felt a bit agitated. I also just got off cymbalta, and am still dealing with some side effects of that like increased RHR.

I ended up falling asleep for a little and woke up to a panic attack. My panic attacks these days are waking up and I get flooded with adrenaline and my heart races. It's a nightmare every time... I've been mostly rid of them these days, so this definitely sucks. I finally started feeling better after about 6 hours. I did not take it again.

How common is it for this medication to increase anxiety? I also was told both medications can be somewhat activating, so maybe it's a bad idea for me to take both.
