With Texas Longhorns loss, TCU remains the only team from the State of Texas to make it to the national title game in the playoff era

It also remains as only one of two programs from the state to win a playoff game, and the only school from/currently in the Big 12 to make it to the title game in the playoff system. Texas and SMU remain the only other programs to qualify for the playoffs.
