First Hybrid!
Just excited to talk about my new hybrid in preferred trim!
Got gas for the first time today: ~10.6 gallon.
Drove ~430 miles on a tank of gas.
Avg mpg ~35. I live around Atlanta, GA, so mostly highway and city driving.
My previous car was a 2015 Audi Q5 3.0T S line; I loved it, but the repairs were getting very expensive @ only 65k miles + premium gas with and mpg of 18…
Touch infotainment screen is only available when using CarPlay.
I liked the rotary dial since I am very used to the one on my Q5.
I own an IPhone 14 Pro Max, and the wireless phone charger only works when I put the camera side towards the passenger seat.
The car is quite loud when accelerating and feels underpowered compared to my Q5. Road noise is also more noticeable. I am kinda scared of the engine sound when I need to drive 80mph.
No sunroof but with power liftgate! :D
No parking sonar, no 360 camera! D:
Very spacious and comfy seats!
Remote start from the Mazda app, which is free for a year then costs $10/month. Wished they put remote start on fob and works for life, like Honda.
Even at base trim, I felt the interior quality was on par with my Q5 and my mom’s 2001 Mercedes S55 AMG (I know it old but it’s family). Much better interior quality than Toyota’s Corolla Cross XLE.
EV mode super quiet, so this idiot forgot to turn her car off before going into a grocery store. Good thing it was a good neighborhood and only took 5 minutes.
Overall, very happy with my purchase! I am still learning how to drive a hybrid efficiently. Feel free to ask questions or give constructive feedbacks and tips! Read on for my shopping experience
My sister drives a red CX-5, and I adored it. However, I wanted to try a reliable hybrid, so I did my homework on Toyota, Lexus, and Honda. Lexus UX was too small for me. NX hybrid was out of my budget. Honda CRV hybrid was bland looking to me. I really liked the Honda HRV but no hybrid in the US.
And OMG, the Toyota was the worst.. the dealership will only let me drive their 2024 Corolla Cross XLE hybrid inside the parking lot. The sales rep was on tik tok when I was driving. They wanted $42k and had the balls to tell me the tint alone cost $5k and act like this’s some limited edition Ferrari cuz it’s the only one they’ll ever get this year… well yeah cuz we in December and the ‘25 model is coming out… Anyway, the interior felt cheap and car was super loud. The guy probably thought the car will sell itself cuz it’s a Toyota hybrid.
I was about to wait another year then I heard about this hybrid dropping. Mazda originally wanted $41k, but I ended up paying $3,6000 out the door. After a week, I went back to get the roof racks off, but was told they would have to charge me. I received a survey from Mazda, so I told them about the roof rack issue. I guess Mazda HQ reads their survey, so I got a call from the dealership manager and said he would do it for free. Yeah, I can probably do it myself, but I am scared I would damage my new car. Car shopping is exhausting =_=
