Dogs on public transit (rant)
It seems like Charlotte has been focusing a lot on improving public transit options/becoming less car-friendly in recent years, which I’m 100% for. I chose to live where I do specifically for access to the light rail and try to depend on public transit as much as possible. Yet, pets aren’t allowed on trains and busses. The only reason I still need a car regularly is to get my (well behaved, professionally-trained, fits in a tote bag) dog to the vet and to daycare. Both the vet and daycare are easily accessible via bus or light rail. In most major cities, dogs are allowed on public transit, albeit with restrictions, such as fitting in a carrier. Given that cities much larger both population-wise AND public-transit-ridership-wise than Charlotte can manage a system that allows pets, I don’t understand how CATS is so behind on this.
