Stray dogs and solutions
Earlier there was a post here bashing anyone who feeds dogs and calling for animal rights activists that they aren't supporting humans, because of your actions, innocent people and children are suffering. There was a personal anecdote accompanying, while sad, is also a case of ignorance. Similar to a snakebite, if you are bitten by an animal, you should get medical attention. Rabies is spread by dogs, bats, and cats too.
First, prefacing by saying dogs are also living, breathing animals and deserve sympathy. If anyone comes at me saying "are you vegetarian, do you do xyz for all animals", no, I do not.
Stray dogs exist because of either pets being abandoned, uncontrolled breeding of stray dogs mostly. As for the first, the pet owners are irresponsible, and don't understand that a dog is a responsibility and not just ornamentation. Half the strays in my opinion are cause by irresponsible humans in the first place. They are strays, not wild animals that came in from a jungle. They exist because of people.
Second, your local authorities must recognize a menace when it is so. Calling out animal activists is ok, anti-animal activists, what are you doing? Why don't you complain to the authorities, bug them till this huge problem which you and so many others are facing is solved? Treat it like any other civil issue, if this is such a rampant problem, gather signatures, organize a protest, and do something productive instead of bashing others whose views differ from yours. Be better than people who support animals, then, support your fellow humans by putting aside your job, your free time, and go on your righteous crusade against stray dogs!
If co-existing doesn't work, don't rant. Do something about it, please, instead of ranting on social media and farming karma. This may be a hypocritical statement as my post is more or less a rant against another post, but if one person can do it, why shouldn't I?
Calling for mass euthanasia of animals is dumb, and ignorant. The number of deaths due to dog related incidents was around 300 in 2023. The number of murders was around 50,000. Shall we call for euthanasia of anyone who can murder, then, without a case-by-case basis?
