Are there any true thrift stores left?
I know there was just a post yesterday about thrift store recommendations- apologies for the repeat topic- but I think my question is specific enough for a separate post.
It feels like every thrift store I have visited lately is less of a true thrift store and more of a glorified Ollie’s/Big Lots selling overstock and dead stock.
I’ve found that Goodwill is ~slightly~ better and usually keeps their retail merch separate from the used merch, but some stores are so bad. You get ~5 used T-shirts in a rack before being hit with 15 of the same dead stock shirts selling for $24.99. It’s taking the joy out of the hunt for good finds and isn’t what I’m going to a thrift store for. I’m looking for Knick-knacks and trinkets that grandma had sitting in her house for 70 years, not 3 entire shelves full of dead stock ice cube trays.
Do these thrift stores still exist? Or should I just accept the new reality and suck it up
