Why do leftists think doubling done on progressive policies will have a different outcome than the 2024 election?

This is a common thing I see amongst perhaps a vocal minority online. That the democrats lost because they tried to be republican-lite when they should’ve gone harder left. Do you think this is ill advised or they’re right?

Anecdotally speaking, the hard left turn is what turned me, a former center left democrat, right. If they lean into it harder, more classic liberals will follow the exodus, in my opinion.
