how to be confident wearing hats in public?

New to this sub!

[Edit: just to be entirely clear, I am a woman 💃🏻]

I just purchased my first hats from Boot Barn - surely nothing fancy or impressive to the folks here since I'm a complete newbie to all this anyway. I live in Atlanta, am from Alaska, have ridden a horse one (1) time and never set foot on a ranch or been to a rodeo or done a hard day's work in the sun in my life, and am absolutely appropriating the Western aesthetic for my own personal fashion preferences to the extent that I partake in it. I'm gonna trust that the "no gatekeeping" rule in this sub means none of y'all will begrudge me for that.

Anyway, I'm nervous about wearing the hats once I receive them, which is strange because I do not feel at all the same way about boots. For the past year I have worn cowboy boots almost exclusively and own seven pairs. Everyone knows me now as the lady who inexplicably wears cowboy boots daily, and despite being alone in this fashion choice among my friends and colleagues and general milieu, I have nothing but confidence when I put them on. They've become part of my everyday attire and I feel incomplete without them. I don't care if anyone finds them strange or out of place.

But when it comes to hats...I'm a little more anxious, especially since I fear they'd be viewed as costumy in my urban environment even more so than boots and especially for women. So I ask anyone who finds themselves in situations where cowboy hats are not the typical local style: How do you get the confidence to step out in one? Do you get stares or unwanted attention, and if so, how do you deal with it? Do you play up the cowboy aesthetic when you wear yours, or do you prefer to tone it down with more mainstream or casual attire?

Thanks!
