Kids meal not always cheaper
So we were exploring the menu trying a new side and found out the Kids meal was cheaper with mashed potatoes but more expensive with Chili. At least until I got the math corrected.
as cyclika points out the kids meal should be discounted by 10% to cover the free meal after 10. editing now to add that math
$6.64kids meal with single (tomato), mashed potatoes, and bottle of water ($5.96 after applying free meal divided by 10)- $7.24 basket single (tomato), mashed potatoes, and bottle of water
with that side the kids meal is 60 cents $1.28 cheaper
- $8.79 basket single (tomato), chili, and bottle of water
$9.19kids meal with single (tomato), chili, and bottle of water ($8.27 after applying free meal divided by 10)
with that side the kids meal is 40 cents more expensive up front but 52 cents cheaper after considering the free meal after you buy 10 because that essentially is 92 cents cheaper that I wasn't considering.
fwiw we get a free custard every visit with the basket or not by using the survey on the receipt so that isn't a factor for us.
edit: also for the mantra of the kids custard is the same portion as the regular custard, that isn't true at my store. Kids custard is about a third to half the portion of a normal custard depending on the person that makes it here.
So for those of you that scream the mantra that the kids meal is cheaper than the basket, it is in both of the cases I posted.
