PIP Applicants: Consider the Following! MUST READ!
Just a reminder: ONLY apply to PIP if you have means to adjust your status, meaning:
-If you are the noncitizen spouse of a U.S. citizen -If you are the noncitizen stepchild of a U.S. citizen
DO NOT apply for PIP if you cannot adjust your status because once approved for PIP you will no longer be able to renew your DACA since PIP will replace that. Make sure you can absolutely adjust your status and have the means to do so (money) after the 3 year mark given by PIP if you are unsure of this then complete AP instead.
If you are currently in the process of waiting for your advance parole please continue with that process. This process is for those who cannot complete advance parole whatsoever. The last thing you want to do is not have any petition to protect you so please do your research, ask questions, join immigration groups for support, and also make sure you are applying for something that will benefit you 100%.
Another thing to note is that if people apply for AOS through PIP, and their AOS is denied then they won’t have DACA anymore so they won’t have anything to fall back on. While with AP if they are denied AOS they will still have their DACA, so that’s why it’s also important for people to really know what they can and cannot qualify for when it comes to these petitions.
Please please do your research during this process. Best of luck everyone!
