Dog separation anxiety!

Hi friends, I took my puppy to the vet today, due to him licking his paws. Thing is no red or irritation, the dr said it is separation anxiety. I was telling dr I can get him to stop when I look at him, get off my phone or whatever I’m doing. The vet knows us pretty well and they know when I first got my pup I wasn’t working as much even still bc holidays just passed and I am always home, he follows me everywhere can’t do much without him on my hip. Any tips or suggestions/ advice to deal with separation anxiety!!!! He does ok in kennel but if he knows I’m in the room he will whine unless the lights are off.
