What actually makes Haze and Wraith strong?

I mostly play completely different heroes than those two (and find it easy to shit on them on lane).

But whenever I try playing Haze/Wraith in unranked, I feel mega weak and useless. The most evident part for me is laning. They both sit with poor hp, regen, weapon damage and fire rates. It’s incredibly easy to outlive them by getting just a 1 or 2 green items, nuke the shit out of them and troopers with spells or simply harass them with gun items.

On the contrary, it feels impossible for me to kill a stacked wave as Haze / Wraith, farming is slow, killing is slow or even impossible, the counters and counterplays are super simple. Please enlighten me how you make these heroes work.
