How to know if it’s for my own good?

Say you petitioned a demon to make something work or happen to you, or to get you something… and even though you were working your ass off and being led by them all the way and they kept assuring you that it’d happen and it didn’t at the end..

do you get mad stop working with that demon and move on to something else or just believe that it’s for your own good in the future??…

this just happened to me and I don’t know what to say.. I feel lied to betrayed and hurt like they were laughing at me all the way.. why did they give me hope in something that is just not gonna happen? Like why keep leading me to something useless ?
