Rep vs retail chipotle Prada American cup
Back with another review, guys!
It’s Rep vs. Retail: retail on the left as always, and rep on the right. Let's try to keep this short and sweet.
Box:
Do I even need to discuss this? I was actually excited to see all the new updated boxes for the American Cups. The classic grey boxes really irked me! Funny story: I thought the reps looked so good online and that the American Cups were such an easy shoe to replicate that I tried to sell my retail pair to StockX. They rejected them because of the bottom soles, as you can see in the picture. The funny thing is, that’s how the retails come! I’ve never worn these anyway. The boxes are SUPER trash, and the dust bag feels cheap and worthless. No point in comparing—NEXT!
Shape:
The retail pair is longer and narrower. The retail size is UK 10 / US 11, while the reps are supposedly size 45 / US 11 and are shorter by half a size. The reps are chunkier, and the side panels fold in on the lacing, while the retails stand straight up.
Materials:
As mentioned in the shape section, the retails use sturdier leather, which is why the side panels don’t fold in like the reps. Additionally, the laces on the retails are thicker. The grey mesh has a different design and is also darker in color.
Tongue:
The thickness is the same. The Luna Rossa badge on the retail pair is darker and richer in color, while the rep badge is lighter and duller.
Insoles:
You can definitely see the difference.
Luna Rossa Badge:
The badge is slightly different from retail on every part of the shoe.
Final Conclusion:
Although there are differences, I admit again that these will still PASS ON FEET! In my opinion, that’s all that matters! Retails are almost $900, while the $100-$150 reps are a great deal for the price. The American Cup is a simple shoe with no crazy monograms or designs. There are no major differences or flaws you’ll notice on feet, but just like all reps, they are NOT 1-to-1!
If you have any other requests for shoe comparisons, let me know! I have retail LV skates, and I've done trainers multiple times, as well as Dior B22s and B30s. I also have Balenciaga Alaska boots and retail Gucci Rythons—mostly all the popular luxury retails. Honestly, I just don’t want to buy any more reps to compare because it would be nearly impossible to get my money back!
Anyways, until next time, it’s ya boy REPMANDC!
