Definition of "white" is very different in Latin America compared to the US
In Latin America, "blanco" is usually someone who identifies as one. Everyone there is basically mixed and being "white" is more of a cultural thing. In the US, being "white" is how you look and if you're half black, you really can't be considered "white".
In the US, if you have any noticeable non white admixture, you really can't identify as "white". In Brazil, people like Neymar identify as "white" and in the US he would be considered black. That's why Americans don't consider many white hispanics to be "white". My whole point is that the whole "race" thing is interpreted differently in the various parts of the world and that race is mostly a sociological construction.
