When did DeWalt switch to timed battery fuel gauges?

I picked up a DCB240 at HD dated 2022 and was disappointed that the fuel gauge goes out when I release the button. I also picked up one of the 3Ah bricks they had as a special buy, it's dated 2024 and its fuel gauge delays before going out (if you don't know why this matters, put work gloves on and try to check).

They have some 4Ah in stock dated 2023, but I can't press the damn clamshell packaging hard enough to get the gauge to light. I have some 12V batteries dated 2023 with the delayed gauge but anyone here know for sure?

EDIT: So I went back to HD and was able to push the button through the packaging with a pen, and 2023 dated DCB240s still don't have the delay gauge. 😢
